A DXpedition whose7o6t unexpected coming out gave a pleasant surprise.
The Yemen was not an absolute new one for me - in 2000 I made some QSOs with 7O1YGF, DXpediton considered valid for the DXCC in a second time - however, given the rarity of the country, I wanted to increase my log. Fortunately the good path, the long activity time and the intense and successful work of operators gave me the opportunity, despite the huge pile up until the last day, of more than one contact with 7O6T, Socotra island, Yemen . Thanks to who made this possible despite the controversies and doubts about the legitimacy of this operation which has already been ratified by the DXCC administrators.

Ham radio evolution (?)

My point of view, and a category self-criticism, on the changes that have affected the ham radio operators in recent years.

Operator of the older generation:
big ears and small mouth.
Operator of the new generation:
large mouth and small ears.
Operator of the newest generation:
behind a computer to manage the radio, make a wrong use of the DXcluster and give lessons on the ham radio web forums.

Well, until now I had never made QSO with the North Cook Islands. I tried to do it thanks to the recent E51M DXpedition.
I should have made two CW QSOs, on 17 and 20 meters bands, however, the first QSO took place on April 1, then there is the risk of the April Fool, and the second with a very weak and bad received signal on my side.
I hope to be on the E51M logbook.

This country was not missing me but Desecheo Island is still a nice DX, not because of the distance but for its rarity. The last arrival of the QSL cards from the buro has given me the surprise of the QSL of K5D DXpedition, year 2009.
Sometime it happens :-)
